We’re experts in wood, making great barrels to make great tasting whisky. We use a mix of freshly-built oak casks and double-scorched Bourbon barrels for our blend of Scottish whiskies. That makes it especially smooth, sweet with a hint of smoke – whisky that tastes great straight-up or mixed long. The perfect whisky for mixing - bold but balanced - rather than a subtly-nuanced or overly-complex taste which is either lost in a mixer or overpowers the drink.
A proportion of each batch spends time in new-built American White Oak casks, made especially for us in Ohio, USA. This adds vanilla and spice notes to aroma and taste. The rest of each batch spends time in double-scorched ex-Bourbon casks. These have been gone through a longer re-char than normal for Scotch. These barrels add more vanilla sweetness to the taste, and a subtle hint of woodsmoke.”
